SEAOCC Seismology Committee July 20, 2022

July 20, 2022
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Meeting Via Go-To-Meeting

As part of SEAOC’s Structural Standards Committee (SSC), the Seismology Committee is responsible for the SSC’s activities related to the provisions of building codes and national standards related to design, materials and construction requirements associated with seismic resistance and performance of new construction.

The committee meets (virtually, for now) on the third Wednesday every other month.  Our next meeting is July 20th at 5 PM.  The meetings are open to all SEAOCC members.  Active participation is welcome and appreciated, but not a requirement.  If you are interested in attending this month’s meeting, please email me at [email protected] .

In recent years, the SEAOCC Seismology Committee has worked with the other member organization (MO) Seismology Committees to update and issue the 2019 SEAOC Blue Book and to review and comment on proposed changes to ASCE 7-16 developed by the NIST Building Seismic Safety Council.  This year, we are working with the other MOs to develop a new Blue Book article associated with structural engineering approaches for resilience-based design. There are also opportunities to engage with work being done by some of the other MOs associated with concrete, steel and timber design and research.
